How to prepare a list of URLs?

To ensure accurate and fast URL processing, it's recommended to prepare a list of pages in plain text format in advance: one URL per line. This format is convenient for automatic checking, bulk downloads, and minimizes the likelihood of processing errors.

Before uploading the list, it's a good idea to perform a basic technical check of the URLs. Even minor errors in the URLs can result in pages not being processed or ignored by the search engine robot.

What is recommended to check before sending:

  • remove duplicate URLs;

  • make sure that the correct protocol is used - http or https;

  • remove extra spaces, hyphens and random characters;

  • check the correctness of the URL structure;

  • make sure the pages open in the browser;

  • check for 404, 500 errors and endless redirects;

  • make sure that important pages are not closed via noindex or robots.txt;

  • use canonical versions of URLs.

It is also advisable not to mix in one list:

  • technical pages;

  • filters and parameters;

  • test URLs;

  • pages with sessions or tracking parameters;

  • unfinished or temporary pages.

The cleaner and better the list of URLs, the easier it is for search engines to process pages and the higher the likelihood of successful indexing.

Recommended list format:

https://example.com/page-1

https://example.com/page-2

https://example.com/category/product-1

When working with large volumes of URLs, it's helpful to further sort pages by type—for example, by article, category, product, or backlink. This simplifies indexing monitoring and helps quickly identify problematic groups of pages.
